 AGOURA HILLS, CA - March 14, 2006 - Employers Direct Insurance Company, California's rapidly growing direct writer of workers' compensation insurance, today announced the appointment of Debbie Laskey as its Public Relations & Corporate Communications Manager. Douglas Helm, Vice President/Chief Marketing & Sales Officer, said, "As a direct writer, we have an unusually close relationship with our policyholders and they look to us to keep them informed on matters that affect them related to workers' compensation. Debbie will play a key role in executing a number of initiatives to make certain that our policyholders are not only kept well informed of these issues but also that they are provided with the opportunity to advocate their position to those that set public policy." In her new role, Debbie Laskey will have primary responsibility for press coordination and the planning and execution of Employers Direct's public relations strategies. She will also be responsible for brand management, advertising, website content development, seminars, direct mail, and corporate communications. Debbie's previous marketing and public relations assignments were in the legal field, accounting, high-tech, and in the consumer marketing department at Disneyland Paris in France. Most recently, she was the Director of Marketing for the Foundation for the Junior Blind, a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles. Debbie has also been a nominee for the "Women Making A Difference" award presented by the Los Angeles Business Journal. "In our post-reform era, there are a number of emerging challenges to the California workers' compensation system that will call for timely and effective communication with our clients and other constituents. Debbie earned an MBA Degree with a concentration in Marketing and International Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a BA Degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
